Do you know how many times a month Ukrainians type the query “how to cook buckwheat” into google? Are you ready to find out this figure? ?
More than 54,000 times! A month.
And that’s not my idea, if anything. It’s a statistic.
So you are not alone, we welcome you to the club of those who want to cook delicious buckwheat porridge ?
So, let’s get down to business, namely – to what products we will need (for 3 servings) and, in fact, to the step-by-step recipe for cooking delicious crumbly buckwheat.
List of products:
1 cup of buckwheat groats (kernels)
2 cups of water (those who were looking for “how to cook buckwheat proportions” – here is the answer, 1:2)
50 grams of butter
⅓ teaspoon of salt (to taste)
Step 1 – Boil the water
I tried boiling buckwheat in two ways. The first is to immediately pour water over it and cook on medium heat for 20 minutes, as advised by Klopotenko. The second way (as my mother taught me) – first boil the water, and then pour the buckwheat into it and cook for 8-10 minutes. I liked method #2 better, I use it all the time and I will advise you the same ? ?
Take a small saucepan, pour 2 cups of water in it, put the saucepan on the fire.
Step 2 – Working with the buckwheat
While the water is boiling, you have time to pick the buckwheat (if there is such a need) and rinse it. If anything, you don’t have to pick the groats, you do have to rinse them ?
Step 3 – It’s boiling!
Salt the boiling water and pour the rinsed buckwheat into the pot. This is if you want to boil buckwheat quickly. And if you are not in a hurry, before pouring it into the pot, put the wet buckwheat on a dry frying pan and fry it a little to remove excess moisture.
Step 4 – Timing
To make the buckwheat tasty and crumbly, cook it for 8-10 minutes on medium heat.
Step 5 – Add the butter
When the groats have swollen and there is only a little water left, add the butter, stir gently and turn the heat down to low.
Step 6 – Almost ready
Now the last step is to cover the pot with a lid and cook the buckwheat until fully cooked (a couple of minutes).
If you have tasted the buckwheat and it is ready, but there is still liquid for some reason, just drain the water in the sink.
If on the contrary, there is no liquid left, but the buckwheat seems undercooked to you, here is a trick – add a little more oil (butter or sunflower oil), turn off the heat, cover the pot with a lid and let the porridge just stand for 10-15 minutes, “finish” so to speak.
Try cooking buckwheat porridge according to this recipe, and then share your impression in the comments ?
